One Happy Mom!

This year was my second Mothers Day!  I can hardly believe that!  What a blessing it has been to be a mother, especially to Mattie Kay.  Jeff surprised me with beautiful flowers and a gorgeous corsage for church services.  I have no doubt that I am a better mom with Jeff as a dad along with me.  We make a pretty good team!  I am looking forward to what exciting adventures I get to live being a mother in this next year!

My Cup...

Overfloweth.  We have been blessed with a beautiful little girl that brings us joy every day.  An Easter basket filled with candy, stuffed caterpillar and books but our girl only had eyes for the books.  I have a feeling she is going to be a reader like her mommy.

8 long years ago...

I can hardly believe that its been 8 years since we lost my mom.  Eight short but incredibly long years ago.  I still remember the day like I just lived it.  Then I think of everything that has happened in those eight years and it amazes me how quickly it has gone by.  I toured England and Scotland, met the man of my dreams, had a fairy tale wedding, ran a flower shop, then closed one.  I became a mom too.  All of those moments are bitter sweet.  Wishing my mom had been there to be a part of them but so very thankful that she has gone on to a better place.  What an amazing example of a mom I had.  If I can teach Mattie just a fraction of what she taught me, I will count myself a good mom too.  Blessed beyond measure that I had her in my life for 26 wonderful years.

Anticipation...

I feel like we are always living with anticipation. Looked forward to thanksgiving, it came and went. Looked forward to Christmas, it came and went. And now there is anticipation for the new year, and I fear it will just come and go. I have dozens of things I hope to accomplish in 2011 but my track record for fulfilling them isn't so grand. I can't say as though I have ever made a list of new years resolutions so maybe it's time to start!
*Be the best mom I can possibly be
*Make sure my husband knows and can see that I love him every single day
*Deepen my knowledge, in my beliefs and my faith
*Create more (possibly pick up my artist pad and see where my pencils take me)
*Become a good friend
*Laugh until I cry as often as possible
*Slow down, throw out the to do list, and enjoy each moment
*Be a better person and all that it entails
*step out if my comfort zone more
*start a crafting/project blog
Whew! I am excited now! Bring on 2011!

Winter Hats

My newest project is hats!  I had no idea what I was doing, so I just made it up as I went along.  I am pretty proud of how they turned out!

Mattie isn't the biggest fan of wearing hats, just yet!  The last one just goes to show she is not my fashion baby, she just wanted to go play!

A blink of an eye...

Seven years ago, I lost my mom to cancer. When I stop to think about that day, it always feels like it just happened. I can relive every sight, sound and smell that day. These seven years have passed in the blink of an eye. Her daughter married, she has two beautifully amazing granddaughters, and she has greeted new family members and friends in heaven. Even though this life on earth continues to move, we all still miss her dearly.

As I begin this new adventure as a mother to a little baby girl, I can honestly say that I will always look to my mom and what she would do if she were still here. Not a day passes when I look at Mattie and wish that she had her grandma here and I had a mom to lean on. I had the very best example I could ever have hoped for in her and pray that as the next seven years and many more pass, I can try to be as good as she was as a mom. Today we miss her just like every other day. But I do not mourn her, I celebrate her life that she lived here and look forward to seeing her again one day.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Spring has sprung on our street! A beautiful cherry blossom and vinca vines are in bloom! I hate what they do to my nose but love what they do to my eyes!

Sweet kisses!

It is so amazing to know that Jeff & I created another human being. Her sweet giggles bring such joy to our lives. Her crocodile tears can break my heart but still make me smile. Watching her try to so hard to turn over amuses me. Her quiet little snores are so peaceful. And her sweet baby lips solve all the problems in my world. I am a blessed mom!

It happened....

Several years ago (like 3 I think), I had lasik surgery on both eyes. Prior to the surgery I was "legally blind"...I had bad bad eyes. I had been in glasses since I was in elementary school and lenses since 6th grade because my eye sight was so horrible and going down hill fast. After the lasik surgery I had 20/20 vision and it was amazing. Well....one of the possible symptoms to pregnancy is vision changes. Sometimes the vision will correct itself afterwards and sometimes it doesn't. In my case, it didn't. I had been putting the eye doctor off because I didn't want to face the truth. So, my vision has changed. My eye doctor said that I will never be as bad as I once was...but that glasses would help me see a little better. So, I have glasses again. I think they are super cute and I still function fine without them so it isn't soooo bad! Just another adjustment after Mattie Kay has arrived! I think she is worth it though.

Happy Halloween!!!

The perfect pumpkin! I couldn't resist this at all! How many times in my life will I be "full-term" and on Halloween? Probably never again. I didn't think I'd make it to Halloween, but since I did, this was my present to myself....a pumpkin belly. Hopefully the photo won't scare you too much or scar you! I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

I am feeling truly blessed right about now. What an amazing journey the past nine months have been. I've had to slow down significantly this past week, mainly due to a cold and being very pregnant! During that time I have had a lot of time to think and reflect on my journey. I know that God has truly blessed me in my life. It is hard to believe that it has been three years since Jeff and I decided to expand our family. There were days that I doubted if I would ever be a mom, days of hope thrown in from time to time and now days of pure joy. I can look back now and see that God really is in control and knows what is best for each of us. Jeff and I are in the right place now to have our baby girl. We had a lot of things to accomplish and experience before Mattie Kay was created. I so look forward to meeting her and to see what is in store for the Walters Household! For all of you that have prayed for us and our Mattie Kay, I say thank you. I know that I have a few short weeks left to go (well, you never know do you?)....so, more prayers and good thoughts are always welcome! This is all new and a bit foreign to us, so we are hopeful it will all go smoothly! We look forward to what is to come and to be able to share it with all of you!

My sweet hugs!

A few months ago (when my belly got noticeably larger), I wasn't the one receiving hugs anymore, Mattie Kay was. Kourtney (my niece) will run up and give my belly hugs and kisses but not me. And she lets me know, these hugs are for Mattie Kay. How absolutely precious is that?

Yep, I'm pregnant

Yep, I'm pregnant! I am in my 33rd week and feeling big! Some of you have requested a "belly photo", so here it is! I'll take a better picture next week and post it, I promise!

Such a Fun Day!

This past weekend, three dear friends threw me a second baby shower. Oh it was so much fun! They had every guest at the shower write out and then say why they thought I would be a good mom. Oh the answers were so sweet! I loved seeing everyone that attended and it was such a wonderful day!

What a fun Day!

My Church baby shower. My cousin Tamara drove up from Fort Worth and then my cousin Koren and Lauren from here in town. It was a fun day!
The tornado that hit my living room from the shower! I am very blessed!

Bellies.....

Funny Belly Photos. I thought it would be comical to see who had the "bigger" belly in the family. Considering that my father looks like he's having multiples, my brother is sucking in and there is no comparison to my uncle....I'm safe for now! My dad said that we need to do this again in a month or so....I think I'm still going to be smaller than at least two of them!

Ouch.....

Whew! Yesterday was an interesting day. I started off with a baby checkup. I love going to the doctor since I get to hear her heartbeat. It took a minute to find because the baby is low, but when it was found, it was pitter pattering at 156 bpm! I love to hear it!! Our doctor reviewed our ultrasound and said that everything looks great. She listed "percentile's" but I have to research that before I really know what they all mean (but the doctor said they were good). She was also confident in the ultrasound tech saying "it's a girl". She said the tech that did it is experienced and really good at her job. So once again, we are going with it....It's A Girl!

Well, I wish that was the only appointment I had yesterday but it wasn't. I had my scheduled root canal.....and oh golly. The procedure was supposed to take an hour to hour fifteen, but it ended up being well over two hours. They couldn't get me numb!!! I stopped counting how many shots went in my mouth and jaw after 10 shots (yeah, 10 shots).....after sitting in the chair for 45 minutes I asked to get up and walk around before the root canal got started. I went out to tell Jeff that we were struggling and by the time I got out to him, my one side of my face swelled up and I finally went numb. The procedure itself was fairly pain free. However, today I feel like I've been run over by a big ole' truck. My jaw hurts so bad from all the shots (which the doctor warned me about and told me to take Tylenol)....oh golly. I am so glad its over but I have to go back in two weeks for the crown. Ughhhh, have I mentioned how much I hate dentists???
