My traumatic day....

Today, Jeff and I went horseback riding in the mountains of Colorado. The view was so beautiful that words will never do it justice. We rode through the pines and emerged to a valley that stood in front of the continental divide. It was beautiful. While we were atop the mountain in a valley, our wrangler got us ready to start a trot on our horse and then a run. Our group only consisted of Jeff, myself and wrangler Shawn, so he was giving us extra time riding. My horse, "Baby" and I started a trot while Jeff and his horse, "Roxxy" (we are told its spelled with 3 x's) rode behind us. Roxxy and Baby had a "fling" earlier this year but Roxxy has moved on to greener pastures. Because of the sensitive nature of their relationship, Shawn wanted us to ride with a little room between them. So, Baby and I took the front. As we were in our trot my horse Baby stumbled and went down hard. What happened is somewhat of a blurr to me. My swollen knees, sore back, and the bruises that are starting, tell the story for me. Jeff was behind me and had an up close showing of my "incident". Fortunately I pushed off the horse to avoid being rolled on top of but went over the horse and landed on my knees and arms. In the midst of the chaos I let go of the rains, so Baby was able to take care of herself. I literally layed on the ground wondering if I was actually okay. My body hurt. My jeans were rolled in dirt and my stylish sunglasses stayed on my face but were a bit crooked. Our poor wrangler, Shawn was so incredibly shocked by the entire incident. He was so worried about me and couldn't believe Baby had gone down. He said that a few of the other horses were known for stumbling, but not Baby. So, I was an hour and a half away from the ranch....I didn't have much choice but to climb back on and suck it up. I got up the nerve to go to Baby and he put his snoot under my arm. So, I felt like we had bonded! On the way down, Shawn reached in his "medical bag" and was handing me a flask. He wanted me to have his emergency kit. I passed on the flask and told him I would probably just hold out for therapy. Thankfully I am alive and in one piece. Jeff pointed out that I wasn't paralyzed, so that was good! I am sore and a little freaked out, but really glad to be okay! No matter where I go... something always happens to me. We are attempting to snow ski tomorrow (if my knees will carry me)....I am praying that I get down the mountain safe and sound! I will keep you updated!

I knew there was a reason why I disliked riding horses! Hope you feel okay for the rest of your vacation!
